A Great Influence
Koichi Tohei Sensei, 10th dan was Chief Instructor of Hombu Aikikai Dojo for many years up to the time O’ Sensei passed away in 1969. In 1976, Tohei Sensei left the Aikikai to form his own organization, the Ki No Kenkyukai or Ki Society.
Tohei Sensei is one of only two aikidokas who have been awarded the highest rank of 10th dan by the Founder. Tohei sensei passed away on 19 May 2011.
We consider Tohei Sensei as probably being our greatest influence in terms of our Aikido philosophy and technique.
